It’s important to remember this community owes its existence to two founders who have consistently shown up day after day in various capacities. What started as a simple yacht club in the swamps of Web3 is now destined to become a global movement.

Bored Global is a dedicated media house for Bored Ape Yacht Club, targeting Web2 with extensive coverage across events, partnerships, pop culture, art, streetwear and entrepreneurship.

The perception of ApeCoin is inherently tied to the Bored Ape Yacht Club. With Yuga Labs’ commitment to utilizing ApeCoin and ApeChain as the cornerstones of its ecosystem, it is crucial that BAYC is recognized as a success not only within Web3, but also, and more importantly, outside of Web3.

PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION

The APE Foundation has recently posted a proposal to revamp ApeCoin DAO governance, entitled “ApeChain, On-chain – ApeCoin DAO Governance Revamp”. This AIP proposes to pause Special Council elections, pending the outcome of the proposal entitled “ApeChain, On-chain – ApeCoin DAO Governance Revamp”.

BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM

This proposal benefits the ApeCoin ecosystem by respecting the time, resources, and energy of the ApeCoin DAO community members who might wish to run for Special Council, as well as the time, resources, and energy of ApeCoin DAO community members who might wish to vote for and learn about Special Council nominees.

PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this proposal is to help guide more people into the ApeCoin community. The ‘Powered by ApeCoin’ logo is great for branding, but lacks a call to action, and does not give a reason for people to join the DAO by purchasing their membership, ie: their first $APE.

This proposal is to mandate the inclusion of a prominently visible ‘Build with $APE’ (or similar) website menu item and corresponding website page by every project which receives funding through the ApeCoin DAO, whether through an AIP or through the Banana Bill.

The specific naming of the website menu item can be at the discretion of the approved AIP author, but must be prominently visible on their AIP projects website main page without requiring a hover-over.

The contents of the Build with $APE page shall also be at the discretion of the approved AIP author, however it shall be required to include:

1. A brief explanation of: What is the ApeCoin DAO, with a backlink to ApeCoin.com
2. A statement that the ApeCoin DAO funded the authors project
3. A simple breakdown of the benefits of owning $APE, ie: inclusion in the community, access to Discourse and Discord, voting on proposals, and proposing new proposals
4. Resources on how to learn more, ie: url to the ApeCoin official twitter account, Discourse, and Discord

This AIP shall not be retroactive. Previously approved AIPs and/or other fundings distributed shall not be required to include the requirements of this AIP. However, it is noted that it would be a courteous gesture by all previously approved authors to include a version of this AIP within their existing projects which were funded by the ApeCoin DAO.

This proposal would only apply to projects which have a website. If a project receives funding from the DAO or from the Banana Bill and does not have a website, it would be exempt from this proposal.

BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM:

1. Onboarding new members into the ApeCoin community
2. Encouraging more people to purchase their membership via their first $APE
3. Active promotion of the ApeCoin ecosystem
4. Ensuring that funded AIPs properly recognize the ApeCoin DAOs contribution and support
5. Reducing friction for potential new members to become more involved
6. Enhancing the Network Effect which occurs as the community grows

OVERALL COST:

Total amount requested from the ApeCoin Ecosystem Fund = $2,000.

The requested amount is the estimated cost of legal expenses needed to implement the changes brought on by the successful implementation of this proposal.
